The Cucumber Story (Donna)

With all the craziness in this world, the distrust, dysfunction, hatred, and prejudice, God showed me what could be.  Our next door neighbors moved in about three years ago.  The parents are from Turkey.  They have three Beautiful children, two daughters and a son.  We became friends and that friendship became something more, in this true story of the cucumbers.  At that time, our friendship was just starting out.  I gave them a plant here and there.  They returned my kindness with a bowl of rice pudding, Turkish chocolates, etc.  After the first year, the Mother started a vegetable garden.  This was her true Love.  Me, I am more involved with the flowers.  Anyway, she gifted me with tomatoes that first year.  I noticed a few weeks into summer that there was a vine coming up and over our fence.  Then a little bit later, I saw growth on that vine.  What?  Could these be cucumbers?  I had never seen them grown this way.  My Dad always had a garden each year, but he always grew the cucumbers along vines on the ground. Anyway, when the four cucumbers ripened I picked them and took them next door.  I knocked on the door, told the oldest daughter who answered, that these cucumbers had been growing over our fence.  I went to hand them to her, and she put her hands up to stop.  She said, Oh no! My Mom said to tell you that anything on your side is yours!” I fell in Love with their family that day️  Fast forward to now...  with COVID, we don’t share vegetables, I think she has enough flowers.  Soooo, yesterday, when I saw a huge rainbow over their house I called to tell them.  I saw my friend (the Mom) looking up into the sky.  Made me Smile!  Oh, what could be
