Sunday Drive (Ann)

We have so many wonderful neighbors in our neighborhood and they have created such amazing holy moments for my daughter and I. One day, I found myself walking with my mom and Nala when one of our neighbors drove by. He stopped when he saw us and excitedly told us that he had just bought the car that he was driving as a surprise for his wife and jokingly told us not to be shocked if we heard her screaming (she is typically a very quiet person). My mom and I hurried back to watch the big reveal and couldn't help but share in their joy. He excitedly told us about the car, which he had driven to Delaware to buy and had made sure to get it in her preferred color--ruby red. His wife sat in the passenger seat and happily took in all of the new features of the car as he shared them with her (they had previously had a 1996 model car). The excitement of the new car was not what made this moment so holy, however--it was the look of pure love in their eyes for each other. The car was not the source of pure joy, but rather the thought and care of the action, and both of them relished in it in their own way. It was so beautiful to watch them share in each other's pure joy and magnify it with their own. In that moment, I saw God's love so clearly and it was humbling and brought me so much joy!

The following Sunday, I saw the wife driving her new car on a beautiful, sunny afternoon and couldn't help but take joy in her Sunday drive and the reminder of that moment of pure love!
