Prayer Shawl (Ann)

A few weeks ago, I posted on a local "Buy Nothing" group asking for yarn for my mom who had run out of yarn to use for the prayer shawls that she knits and donates to the church. A woman commented on the post requesting a prayer shawl and I reached out to her to coordinate dropping one off for her. My mom had just finished knitting one and it was the only one that she had on hand to give the woman. I assured my mom that I was sure that it would be fine. The woman sent me a message saying that if possible, she would like a purple shawl since the color was very meaningful for her. My heart sank knowing that I only had one shawl option currently and that it might take a few weeks to months to make the one that she had requested. As I was walking upstairs to relay the request to my mom, she was walking out of her bedroom holding the shawl. I had to turn the light on just to make sure that I was seeing what I was seeing...the shawl in her hand was purple! When I sent a message to tell the woman about this holy moment, she agreed that it must be a sign and meant to be!
When I delivered the prayer shawl to her later that week, she hugged me and thanked me. She then told me about a friend she had made through an online grief support group whom she felt could use a prayer shawl as well. I knew what God was calling me to do in that moment and offered to make her a prayer shawl and send it to her (she lives in the UK). I asked if her friend had any particular color request and she said that she would ask her friend and let me know. Later that evening, I was pulling out a few skeins of yarn that I had gotten from the generosity of the members of the "Buy Nothing" group to make the prayer shawl that she had requested for her friend. As I was bringing them upstairs to start working on it, I got a message from the woman saying her friend's favorite color was blue and that she thought a shawl with a mix of blues and white would be perfect. I had to chuckle as I looked at the skeins in my hand--they were all blues and whites as she had requested! God worked another holy moment again!
