Prayer Box (Donna)

When I was a little girl, at night we would kneel down with folded hands and start a litany of prayers for Mom and Dad, our Brothers and Sisters, Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Bessie, etc.  As an adult, time became full and the litany became longer.  Eyes closed long before names were spoken, although my Heart held them safe.

Years passed and then my Dear Friend, Opal told me that her Granddaughter, Suzanne made her a Prayer Box. She just said that Suzanne decorated it and gave it to her to use for people that she wanted to pray for.  Shortly after, I was in Michaels and I found the “Perfect” box for me!  I didn’t decorate it, as it has a floral design on it, but I Love it!!!  I grabbed a paper and pen and started writing down all my relatives, family and friend’s names that have had meaning to me during my life, including those that have passed on.  Quite a long list and I included issues like, For the Sick, the Poor, the Homeless, Racism, etc. My box is now filled to the brim with prayer intentions, requests.  I try to remember to ask God to pray for all those in my Prayer Box and to please remember to when I don’t!

When I am praying at night, sometimes spiritually adding a name to my prayer box is my prayer! When it has been a hard day, I think it is enough to say, “Jesus you know all that is in my Heart!”  Love and Prayers, Donna

This is beautiful Donna. Thank you for placing me and my family in your prayer box so many years ago. Thank you for reminding us to pray beyond our own needs. Your words always teach hearts to expand...beautiful.
