Looking for God (Lisa)

I looked for God on Easter morning. I listened for His word and once again, it came to me through the eyes and ears of my 3 year old grandson. It’s no wonder Jesus implored us all to be like little children.

My grandson’s favorite word is NEW. He likes to take us on tours of his entire house and grounds to show us all the “NEW”. And so, on this Easter Sunday I went on a NEW tour. He would see IT, hear IT. A NEW fresh world! Immediately he would explore IT with his hands and then shout it out on his tongue. It sounded like this… (in a sweet high pitch joyful voice)

Omi? Want to go see my NEW shed? Okay, lets go down my NEW steps and this is my NEW railing, you have to hold it! Omi! Do you see my NEW grass? (He squats down and open palm strokes the soft grass) And this NEW little white flower (a weed) and this NEW wood? (a piece of mulch) and NEW stones too? (gravel).

We look up and catch a herd of deer taking flight across the field. Omi? Do you want to run like the deer? YES! With giggles he shouts OMI! THE WIND IS CHASING US! The wind is ALIVE! All the world is alive, all has life in it. It is all so NEW and FRESH and HOLY. God is in it all! And Mikey know its without even putting it into any more words this… NEW!

Lord, help me see with his little wise eyes, hear YOU with his tiny knowing ears. Help me be brave and reach out to touch with his trusting little hands and proclaim it all in a child’s simple plain language. NEW! Help me to be like a little child and KNOW the WONDER OF IT ALL. May the JOY of my life be a SHOUT OF THANKS TO YOU LORD! Amen
