Dear Claire,
I am having trouble remembering you, Me. Us. I can’t recall our life, routines, the sights and sounds of a life so rich and full. A wave of emptiness and pointlessness bolls me over and I am left. Flat. On the floor. Deflated. Void of air.Inflate me Claire.
Love, Mommy
Inhaling, I breathe in the ruach and the very breath of Godbreezes in.
And with it, this holy thought… I could have addressed this to You…Jesus.
Dear Jesus,
I am having trouble remembering You, Me. Us. I can’t recall our life, routines, the sights and sounds of a life so rich and full. A wave of emptiness and pointlessness bolls me over and I am left. Flat. On the floor. Deflated. Void of air.
Inflate me Lord, Jesus, with the very ruach of you.
Let me begin again, in this moment, this day.
Amen
The Hebrew word ruach, literally means the very breath of God. When I use it in prayer and envision taking in that literal breath of God, I am always gifted with a holy thought.
Every moment of every day we have opportunities to either fully experience the breath of God or fall flat, feeling deflated. Most of the time we probably fall somewhere in between, to ebb and flow, feeling close, then a bit more removed, distracted. There are some times when we fall further away from that breath, that ruach of God; death, loss, personal pain, Covid, the politics of the day, so many one things can remove us from God.
Today, what started with a letter of pain addressed to my daughter turned into a powerful prayer. Jesus found me where I stood and refreshed me in that moment. The pain of deep loss drew me to the very ruach of God. Thank you, God.
Amen, I say again and again and again. Amen.
