Claire's Song of Life (Claire's Mom)

Today is our daughter Claire’s second anniversary of going Home. Just a few days after she left me physically, she came to me spiritually, so on this day I’d like to share my memory of that day…

Dear Claire, April 2020

You came to me today on my morning walk. I spotted a sparrow on a pine branch just a few feet away. I whisper, Claire? Is that you? as you flit away in this happy little swirling flight pattern, up and over a white picket fence only to be replaced by a little blackbird speeding by in the opposite direction, across the street and up a tree.

I think, Oh! Is that you? Or is it the squirrel racing down the trunk or the next squirrel racing across the grass and up another tree? Like an etch-a-sketch my eyes make connecting lines from bird to bird, to squirrel to squirrel, and now to tree. As I come to walk under that tree the sun comes out casting sharp shadows, dancing leaves on my shoulder, I think, Or are you in the tree? The bark? The leaves? The sun? Are you the dancing shadows on my shoulder?

I feel you pulling me, like a chain of links, each moving me zigzag forward, as I walk the sidewalk, on my way home. You are the Energy pulling me forward physically and spiritually on this walk through my life, toward home. I am on my own walk now but I too, am coming home. I hear you whispering, I am not IN it all, but rather, I AM it all! You are revealing how God, how Love, exists by showing me how you exist in this world and in my life. Ohhh! How you blessed me this morning Claire!

I am Sidewalk

Remembered Footprints

Of Toes and Paws

Leading off to

Who knows where

I am Sparrow and Hawk

Squirrel and tiniest Bug flying by

I am Wind and Sun

Breath and Sweat

Your Tears and Knowing Smile

I AM it all.

I AM drawing you forward

On your walk

Home.
