Along the Delaware River (Donna)

(Painting done by Donna’s very talented mother, Mary, and shared with permission.)

My husband and I had Breakfast at the Boat Marina this morning. When we were finished eating, we walked to the railing. The Delaware River was calm and the sun felt good!😊 My husband and I both commented how Blessed we are to live about two blocks away and enjoy this more often these days.

There were lots of ducks along the shoreline. Later there was another group floating nearby. A duck from the shoreline started honking in invitation. They all joined up and the fun started! Perhaps an early Thanksgiving for them. Afterwards, there was splashing and frolicking about! So Cute❤️

A boat made its way down river at a good speed, leaving ripples in its wake. You could hear the lapping of the water along the shoreline. I thought about the ripples that we make when we extend kindness. We can truly make a difference.

Even that loud honking duck, turned a regular float down the River into a joyful celebration for them. “It’s the little things!” We just have to take the time to notice them. Enjoy your Thanksgiving! It will be different this year, but treasured all the same!

Please pass the Dressing!

P.S. When writing this I wondered whether to call it stuffing or dressing. So, I looked it up. Here is what I found😊

“I grew up in the South, but both my parents are Yankees, so it’s always been “stuffing” in my family. My Southern neighbors called it “dressing.” What about you?

I always thought this was a regional difference in words, like “pop” and “soda,” but this isn’t so. “Stuffing” is what you put inside the bird and cook with the bird, so it absorbs the drippings. “Dressing” is what you cook on the side in a casserole dish. Proponents of stuffing say cooking it inside the bird makes it moister and richer in flavor. Those who favor dressing argue that when stuffing is put inside the bird, it doesn’t reach high enough temperatures to kill the bacteria it came in contact with while the bird is raw and poses a health risk. Dressing is usually crisper than stuffing, but some people add a stick of butter and some beaten eggs to it to add some moisture.

However, some people call it “dressing” even if it’s cooked inside the bird. This is more common below the Mason-Dixon line.”

Regardless of what you call it, or if you are not a fan, Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🍁 ❤️ Love

Donna
